Hello 99Design community! I'm very excited to be posting my first project, and I look forward to the (likely) epic results! I'm an online Community Manager for Mahalo.com and I'm looking to expand our use of infographics. I look forward to establishing a great relationship with this site :-)
Let me just say that, as a brother of a graphic designer, I don't understand how you do what you do, but I respect the heck out of people with mad design skills!
Imagine your shiny, awesome infographic is roaming around the Twittersphere: Steve Woz will see it, The Scobleizer will comment on it, Mashable will RT it to thousands. Let's shoot for that demo: 20-40 year olds that appreciate good facts and news but don't have a lot of time to research.
**Main Point: The audience craves maximum info in minimum time, delivered in a visually-appealing and readable format**
The infographic should cover the basic timeline of the NDM-1 Superbug, including it's origin, transmission, prevention, composition, and facts (properly cited). The infographic should serve as a great summary report of the NDM-1 virus: "where did NDM-1 come from, what is it, why is it important, what facts do I need to know?" Basic subjects to cover in the graphic:
Where did it come from geographically and biologically? When did it start?
NDM-1 TRANSMISSION & TRAVEL:
How/Where did it initially spread? What countries currently have reported cases?
NDM-1 STRUCTURE & COMPOSITION:
What does the bacteria look like? How does it work? How does it affect the body?
commons symptoms (could mention they're similar/related to E. Coli), current treatment options
Please include any interesting or important statistics or figures whenever possible - either as its own section or mingled with the above sections ("x" confirmed cases, "x" countries affected, "x" vaccines available, "x" predicted incidents, etc)
Deliverable should be an (.ai) in vector so I can adjust the size.
Look forward to receiving your great ideas and feedback - this site rocks!
