K-AMIS got their new other graphic design by running a design contest:
TEACHED- A film about education in America
Check out K-AMIS's Other Graphic Design contest…
I was a teacher in South Central, Los Angeles who became very passionate and angered by about the inequities in our education system. For the last decade or so, I have helped create new schools and programs in inner-cities, and also written about the issues. Now I am making a documentary film that will show the great disparities between schools serving upper-income, mostly white students and those serving lower-income, mostly black and Hispanic students, and explore the importance of teacher quality-- are all teachers equal? If not, do all kids have access to the same quality of teachers? The answer is, as you've probably guessed, no. Some kids are taught, some kids are "teached."
The target audience is anyone who cares about justice and believes all kids should have an opportunity to attain an excellent education, but maybe doesn't quite understand just how much our system condemns certain populations of children to failure. As a society, we often blame the students (and their families) themselves for their low academic achievement. This film will show that the true nature of the problem is within the structure of the system itself.
OK- revising this AGAIN - I'm new to this whole thing, apologies! What I'm looking for is a movie poster (classic size-- 27"x40") for TEACHED that would also look good reduced on to a large postcard for mailings, and as an icon on the website (or, if it doesn't look great so small, I would just take the word "TEACHED" out of the poster and put that on the website in place of my own lame attempt at doing this. --- please see www.loudspeakerfilms.com). The postcard could be 8.5x5.5" (jumbo)-- and needs .25in extra border around that can be cut off for best processing. You just need to do one of these -- the poster or the jumbo postcard - whatever size is your preference. I think the letters in the name itself should all be capital, but I'm open. Except for: no freakin' apples please! And no broken pencils (been done). Not sure about tagline yet -- but you could try your TEACHED poster idea with: - A Film about Education in America or just - Education in America or something better you come up with! ALSO- I have photos that could be incorporated -- if you want to use them in your design. Some are at http://criticalexposure.smugmug.com/gallery/7289845_yuf3S#P-1-12 and others are on my website: www.loudspeakerfilms.com in the photo gallery. THe poster/card should also say on it: Coming Soon from Loudspeaker Films Please email with other questions!
