How ehulme started their other book or magazine journey
Who are you known as?
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I am a faculty member at a university and I started The EDG (Educational Design) to try and infuse more creative thinking into the field of student services (those are the offices such as residence halls, student activities, counseling, rec sports, leadership programs, multicultural services, etc.) This is a brand new endeavor which will utilize design thinking and adaptive leadership as its core competencies.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We will be giving a 3-hour long workshop at a national conference in a few weeks. The workshop will guide participants through a design thinking curriculum. This document we need designed will be used as a workbook to guide the participants through the curriculum.
General Look and Feel:
- We want it to look professional but creative. If you want to infuse a theme like nature, art, etc. that is great.
- Don't use pictures of people, classrooms, college campuses, etc. We don't want the typical educational look - blah!
- This will ultimately be a wire bound book.
- The workbook must fit into a box, therefore, we need the pages to be 6 1/4 by 8 1/2 and allow for a traditional wire binding. We would prefer the book be oriented with the long side horizontal (landscape view).
As you will see, some pages are primarily for the participants to fill in.
We are going to be using heavier paper to hopefully give it a bit of a sketchbook feel.
The workbook is about 24-26 pages but we can adjust that to fit the designers look and feel.
I have attached the content in a word document and a pdf of a roughly designed PP to demonstrate how I would like it laid out.
You will see that we used a collage look. We are NOT wed to that direction. We just wanted to give you an idea of the amount of text to graphic ratio on each page. I hope the collage theme is not distracting. We have attached all of the information that needs to flow into the document. We don't have an existing logo so the sky is the limit in terms of color, etc.
