We create database software for nonprofits and government organizations in the human services sector such as homeless programs, 2-1-1/I&R, disaster programs, and elder/youth services. Our software, CommunityOS, allows nonprofits to share data on the people they help with other nonprofits in their community giving them one system for all social services in the community.
What's your vision?
We are re-designing our website and need one central graphic for the home page that captures all the various nonprofits we cater to. The whole idea is to have a picture of a community with the many different human services offered to the people who live there. In one corner there would be a homeless shelter, in another a playground or school to represent youth services, in another perhaps a house is on fire and there is a fire truck in the front to represent disasters and so on. We want the graphic to be the shape of a LONG HORIZONTAL BANNER that can scroll as people browse through the different types of nonprofit and government organizations that can use our software. The main types of organizations that need to be included in the picture are: - disaster services - 2-1-1 and Information and referral - homeless services - elder services - youth services - general human services Secondary services - refugee services - veteran services - education initiatives - workforce services/job opportunities - medical services - financial services We want the picture to be sort of cartoony, sketchy and have a friendly, community-based feel. We would prefer if the graphic was done digitally, although a digitally enhanced sketch would work too.
The 'home page 8' doc is a rough draft of the homepage design for the website. The '3-community building.pdf' graphic has the general color scheme of other website elements we are planning on using. We want there to be a feeling that this community is connected (perhaps by roads) and all the services are connected as well. Remember, this should be a long horizontal banner that can scroll as people scroll through the nonprofit types (see 'home page 8' if you need a reference).

Dinah was kind, prompt, and went above and beyond to help me in each step of the way. This was my first time working with an illustrator, and I will admit, I should have been more clear on a few things, but she really really helped me understand the process and how to articulate my needs better. She was a great teammate.
