What's your vision?
Fun, engaging, yet skilled and sophisticated illustration (NOT condescending, silly, overly-cartoonish or scribbly) for a children's book about Attention Deficit Disorder, from an eight-year-old child's point of view. The style should reflect knowledge of accurate child anatomy. Book will have highly detailed double-page spreads of messy room, broken toys and other items scattered around, clothes and other things in disorganized piles. If contestant has experience with ADHD children, that's a plus, to know that their expressions, movements and body positions are always a little "off" of normal. The majority of the story will be carried by the pictures, which will say much more than the words. The contest is to make an illustration for the double page spread (11"X17") called "page 8" of the attached pdf, text="Hey, Timothy, It's time we had a talk." This is the page of key engagement--we either hook the reader here or lose them. (Additional pages are welcome if they display a concept that needs more than one page to communicate.) The style and appearance of the Postman in the sample approved FPO layout are NOT desired--a Postman of unidentifiable race would be best.
The illustrator will receive recognition on the cover of the book and on the title page, "Illustrated by..." as well as a bio paragraph and contact information in the back. CLARIFICATION: The contest is ONLY for the one illustration. Any additional illustrations will be separately compensated. Nobody is expected to illustrate a whole book for one prize!!!
