We are a well established design / manufacturing company located near Silicon Valley that specializes in precision lighting equipment for industry, surgery, and other fields. Our end users are scientists, engineers, surgeons, quality personnel, and other such professionals.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We have a very successful line of led ring lights that attach to microscopes. We are getting ready to launch a new generation of products. One of the changes is to switch one of the parts used to make the ring from CNC 5 axis machining to a stack up of laser cut plates. This change will drop our costs substantially and enable us to offer more sizes without having higher inventory levels. Technically this is quite easy. But we are aiming for a FANTASTIC looking product. So we are reaching out to gather some ideas for the LOOK AND FEEL. Ideally the winning designer will provide us with one or more unique treatments of the shape, color, graphics, etc. that we can incorporate into our new line of products.
All we are looking for is images - we will have to remodel everything in our CAD system to get precise details so use any method you have (including hand sketches if you want).
We are interested in COLOR TREATMENT - we intend to anodize many of the parts which limits those colors to raw metal, black, red, and blue - but for other parts we can powder coat any available color.
We are interested in adding GRAPHICS. Our laser can be used to remove colored anodizing (to return the raw metal color underneath). So we are looking to see what ideas there are for adding graphics.
We are interested in SHAPE - we have quite a few limitations - namely the ring must fit on a microscope lens (assume 66mm for this study) and not be overly high (assume 25 mm in this study) but we are free to vary the exterior shape / form.
You will note from the datasheets I will post that each ring light has
(3) thumbscrews to attach it to the microscope
(1) electrical cable that brings power to the led.
Any questions just email me and I will try to respond quickly. I have uploaded quite a few sketches we made internally to give you a better idea of the direction. I have also uploaded datasheets on our existing products so you can see the details of how those are constructed.
