AppsAustin got their new app design by running a design contest:
Short Term Vacation Rental App

Real Estate & Mortgage
We are a short term vacation rental company in the hill country of Texas. The app will be given to our guests and they can login with a code to see the details of the house they're renting. They will also be able to access other sections for info about the towns, local things to do in those towns, parks and businesses to visit. We will also have a chat section where the guests can type a message and other guests in the area will be able to respond. I need an app that represents our business. I don't want it to look exactly like the website, but I do want to use our site and logo colors. The image I added to the brief is from another designer, but I don't like the design and want something more custom and creative. I need a better layout and user interface because these designs are too plain and more like a website than an app. I am open to all ideas and creativity, and the more unique designers will be considered more closely for more work. I am also considering a slide up to show towns page over the listing page, so keep that in mind. See the Zillow app, click on a property and you will see a slider come up with details for an example of what I an considering. The screen you make should show all the things you see on the attached image: Logo Photo of the house Map image to open google maps Name of the house Address Check in and check out times Property description Check in and out instructions Distance to the following locations Gallery Explore button I need a new navigation design and icons too: My home Towns Chat About ======== For your reference, the rest of the app has these pages: Towns page (list of local towns to choose (about 15) with photo and description of the town) Towns detail page (similar layout to listing page) with a photo and some content underneath it. There will also be an explore button in the towns page that will lead to the explore page for that town Explore page (list of restaurants, bars, activities in that town with a photo and description) Explore detail page (dedicated page with info on each restaurant/bar/activity including a logo, phone #, address, some text content about the location and 5 tags like best hamburgers, close to town, open late, etc) About / contact us page Chat page (two way messaging)
Use site colors and I like the way the zillow app functions. I need an amazing and unique user interface
This page is the main one guests will use to see the details about the house. See example of page I need redesigned but I want a slider to show some of the info
What to avoid
Dont design the screen exactly like the attached image I gave and just change colors. Be creative and you can move things around if you feel it will function better.
