Secure Chat got their new app design by running a design contest:
Secure chat app design for business professionals
Check out Secure Chat's App design contest…
Our app is a secure chat and audio/video calling app that is focused on meeting the needs of B2B (business-to-business) communications with superior features and a superior UX/UI design vs consumer-focused chat apps (eg. WhatsApp, Line, Telegram etc.)
IMPORTANT NOTE: The winning design must be provided as an editable Sketch file. With a lot of competitors in the space, we want to stand out as the best communication app for business/professional users. “Best” in terms of features available and best in terms of UX/UI design. For this contest, we are looking for a design of screens that meets the User needs as he/she goes through the day/week and goes through different “operating” modes. For example, when at work, the home screen should provide convenient access to the relevant app features for work. After work, the app would switch (automatically or manually) to a "personal mode" home screen, which arranges the features most relevant for personal use. Each design must have the following key attributes: 1) Is helpful: Has the right features for efficient engagement according to operating mode 2) Is simple/easy-to-use: Enable easy navigation on screen to the features needed 3) Feels secure/business-user focused: This app is targeted at all professionals in all industries 4) Wow’s the user: Is this a UX/UI people will talk about positively? Does the UI give pleasure/enjoyment?
For the purposes of this contest, use the name "Secu"
The first version of our app targets business professionals that are looking for better work-life balance through better separation of their business communications. These professional users might work in any size of organization (small, medium or large) and in many different industries (e.g. technology, legal, financial etc.). USERS: For each user, as they go through their day/week, they may either be in “Work mode” or “Personal mode”, where features and communications are re-organized or re-selected according to the needs of that particular mode for easy access. USES: There’s also several different uses for the app, with work being a higher priority in our app: 1) Work - External (business-to-business) communications 2) Work - Internal (team/organization) communications 3) Personal (friends/family) communications Our app’s UX/UI design should consider how it might accommodate, change or be customizable according to these different types of USERS and USES. Specifically, how might the app UX/UI change between a “Work mode” and “Personal mode”. SCREENS: We are looking to have the following screens and their respective menus/actions/transitions designed: 1) Work-mode home screen & related actions 2) Personal-mode home screen & related actions 3) Contacts screen & related actions 4) Chats screen & related actions 5) File/Document management screen & related actions FURTHER EXPLANATIONS/CONSIDERATIONS: The "Work mode" and "Personal mode" home screens should have the more relevant features for each operating mode arranged for the best User experience. Standard features like Settings, Profile, etc. can be embedded in these operating mode home screens behind a button or laid out differently if it makes sense. Along with all the standard features you can expect from your favorite chat apps, our app has the following unique features that focus on making your business communications more efficient and more secure. Security: • Sign-in alerts: Receive a notification every time your account is signed into • Self-entry passcode/authentication for sensitive chats: Set a unique PIN for specific sensitive chats Work-life balance: • Working hours notifications: Turn off your notifications automatically outside of your regular working hours • Out-of-office status: If you are not available during your regular working hours, you can indicate out-of-office status within a chat or on your profile Business: • Organizations: Create and manage an organization that other app users can join or join an existing organization. • Audit trail: Communication records (text/audio/video) are auto-created/organized. • Manage records, set access rights to files you send, review activity/content/participants. • User status setting: Out-of-Office message (Sick/Vacation/Public Holiday/Custom) Chats: • Classify each chat created as business or personal • Text chats: New messages (How would you be notified/read/browse incoming messages while you are on another screen?) • How would you organize/browse/search your chats? Contacts Management: • QR Code for Networking/Adding new contact • Send links to start new chat, invite to join the app, share a contact • What might a contact's profile page look like? • What might a contact's organization profile page look like? • How would you organize/browse/search your contacts? Categorizing, Search & Shortcuts: • Tags for organizing contacts and chats: Use tags to filter your contacts and chats. Save tags as shortcuts for easy access.
What to avoid
IMPORTANT NOTE: The winning design must be provided as an editable Sketch file. We are NOT looking to be a "me too" chat app - Designs that are too similar to existing chat apps on the market are unlikely to win. We welcome wholly creative ideas on UI/UX, so long as they meet our goals of being helpful, simple/easy-to-use, feeling secure/business-use focused and wowing the user. We expect to see how on-screen elements might change when pressed or when menus are open or the page is scrolled down, transitions etc.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. App design starts at $599.
