Gi-Labs AS got their new app design by running a design contest:
Redesign of mobile game for kids
Check out Gi-Labs AS's App design contest…
A simple quiz game consisting of multiple categories where kids need to read a question and then click the correct answer image.
I want graphic that appeal for kids age 6 to 9. The graphic should be fun and playful. Se the flowing links for some inspiration: Kids graphic that I like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Geography.Quiz.Game http://www.sunkist.com/kids/ (the first page) http://tocaboca.com/ (all their games are great!)
Quiz for kids
Menu screen: Title in the top "Quiz for kids". Categories that can be selected. Each category consist of a title, image, and tree stars to indicate how well you have done in the category . Categories can be "Wild animals", "Pop stars", "Soccer", "Barbie", "Disney characters", etc... A "More apps" button which leads to a page with more apps from the developer. In the upper corner there should be a button with the name an photo of the current player. If the button is pressed the app switches back to the "select user page" described below. Quiz screen: Title of the category in the top. "exit / back to menu" button Progress indicator which shows which questions you have answered. The items in the progress indicator are themes to the quiz, so for soccer it consists of footballs, wild animals = tiger head, pop stars = stars, and so on. If a question is answered correctly the indicator will be highlighted, if a question is answered incorrectly it will be X-ed out. A text box for the question. The text should be big and easy to read for young children. 4 answer buttons with images and text below. Sample question: "A big cat with black and orange stripes that lives in Asia". The answer buttons could be a pictures of a cat, a loin, a tiger, and a zebra. Select player page: A simple page with the "Quiz for kids" logo on the top, a simple list of the previous players with photo and name, and a new player button. When the new player button is pressed the page will show a input field where the new player can type his name, and a "take a photo" button. There should also be a play button that the player can press when he has taken a picture and typed in his name. Please see the attached sketches. This contest is for two screens, so the last screen is optional.
