AmyKathleen needed a new app design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 29 designs submitted by 9 freelance designers.
The internet is a digital jungle inhabited by hackers poised to attack and steal sensitive information. So instead of roaming unguarded in public networks, just avoid them with VPN (virtual private networks).
Designer, meet our client, ID Vector. We have been building their VPN app for the past two months and it is now ready for a sleek and stealthy design. Can you rise to the challenge?
The ID Vector app simply targets Security Professionals and Security Conscious Individuals with two types of VPN paths--shared and custom.
(We are Concrete Interactive. Product innovators that develop, deploys, and maintains software ranging from mobile and web apps to embedded.)
The inspiration—to channel the spirit of the swanky and covert James Bond, conveying a refined industrial feel as one navigates the world spoofing their physical location with their VPN. Attached you’ll find Moodboards from our UX designer. The client was most drawn to the color palette and message conveyed in board #2 and has requested the font styling from board #3 (files also attached). The styling should depict a minimalistic and original feel with a creative edge. Please remain relatively close to general iOS design guidelines knowing you have the freedom to create a couple of sleek features that deviate some.
1) The standout feature of this app should be the VPN on/off switch. The slick idea we have is that when the "Turn on button" is pressed a briefcase combo lock pops up and spins through numbers and letters while the VPN connection is made. Once connected the lock lands on "Secure." (It's not necessary to use this idea but more power to ya if you can make it happen.)
2) The footer must say "ID Vector is Off" near the toggle button. It is key that the visual here is obvious when off and obvious but different when on.
3) The footer should not be in red/orange unless you want to use that color for the unsecure/VPN is off state with a color shift once it's turned on.
I am including screenshots for the app in it’s current, raw development state for reference.

Both the code and UX for this app are already complete. Attached is a PDF of the UX with detailed descriptions of the workflow and necessary elements for each screen. Please reach out with questions if anything is confusing or unclear--we want you to be well informed.
You'll notice the UX is for the complete app (more than 5 screens). The screens we want designed for the contest are:
1.2.2
2.0
2.1
2.2
4.0
We will hire the contest winner to design the rest of the app for us--make your work count!
Overcomplicated designs that will take an extended time to implement.
