"Watch that Spy" is a story driven multi-choice game, it utilizes all the Apple Watch and iPhone features to create a truly interactive experience for the player with real choices and real consequences. My vision needs to be backed up by a great interface design.
Overall I'm after a design that convinces the player they've stepped into the world of espionage or been dropped into a spy movie. I've created a separate Pinterest board for each screen needed, however the board https://nz.pinterest.com/marcuslrb/spy-theme-design-inspiration/ has a collection of general spy themed designs/styles to help trigger the imagination. The images on this Pinterest board are just to express the strong spy theme I am after with my game design. I've outlined in the next section (workflow) the layout of each individual screen needed for the contest. I just ask you designers to remember the overall spy theme when doing your designs. In regards to color, my initial thoughts were a light green color but I don't know how this would look, so I am open to different color schemes with your designs that you feel comfortable with. Please do not copy the blue color of the game Spy_watch. I will be choosing the design that best reflects the "spy/espionage" game style. The winning designer will be required for further screens at later date.

------ Phone Screen - Mid Mission Skydive ------- Please refer to 2nd contest attachment for a basic template of the screen layout. For specific screen references please refer to Pinterest Board https://nz.pinterest.com/marcuslrb/screen-1-skydive-mission This is a moment mid-mission where the spy is skydiving onto a target's penthouse rooftop. The fictitious spy is sending messages to player and responses have been chosen. Players of the game "Lifeline" will be familiar with the screen where player can scroll through their previous messages/responses. Pinterest Image 1.1 has an example of the Lifeline scroll screen example. This contest screen includes player's previous chosen responses slightly highlighted in curved rectangle boxes, the image of the spy skydiving (Pinterest Image 1.2 and the 3rd attachment in Contest list. The player's final choice has yet to be made so is not highlighted. ***Please note, as I've tried to show in the example template, this screen is scrollable (up and down), so the design is intended to cover more than what fits on a single phone screen as player can scroll through it. *** The heart pulse and menu icon are fixed to the bottom of the screen at all times. So with the design please make sure these two are at the bottom of screen design. The Pinterest Image 1.3 has some heart pulse image examples. The menu icon I’m open to anything. Subtle background design is entirely up to you, design that doesn't overpower everything else on the page but has a spy theme "feel" to it. The screen must include: --A Menu Icon (Bottom left) --Heart Pulse --Skydive Image --Previous chosen responses slightly highlighted. ------ Phone Screen: Interrogation ----- Fourth attachment in contest list shows a basic template for the design. For specific screen references please refer to Pinterest Board https://nz.pinterest.com/marcuslrb/screen-2-interrogation/ For this screen, the spy is interrogating a suspect; the player has already chosen an interrogation method, in this case “Rapid Fire Approach” The screen shows the heart pulse of suspect within a heart shape. Pinterest Board has an example of heart image. The pulse animation speeds up if the interrogation is working, as heart pulse speeds up it fills in a progress bar. At any point the player can request a Status Report or press the “Menu” icon. ------ Phone Screen - My Agency ------- Refer to attachment number 5 for basic template of the screen. For specific screen references please refer to Pinterest Board https://nz.pinterest.com/marcuslrb/screen-3-my-agency/ "My Agency" is a section where the player can view their recruited spies. Player chooses which spy to view details of and the detailed view screen is what I want designed. Player can see their individual spy's name, facial photo, heart pulse, their status (either in training, in a mission or missing etc), and their skill levels. Along with a "Give a Command" button and a "Back" button to allow player to return to previous page. Page must include: --Facial photo (Refer to Pinterest Board for image of spy, face is intentionally hidden. --Status: In Training --Skill Levels: Tradecraft – 11, Driving – 8, Combat- 7, Awareness – 11 , Hacking – 5, Stealth – 8 --“Back” button. ------ Watch Screen - Start Mission Screen (Bang and Burn)----- *** Please note, the watch screen display is small (Smallest version - Height: 38.6mm Width: 33.3mm) so please remember this when designing the next two screens. Apple have made a great and clear basic guide https://developer.apple.com/watchos/human-interface-guidelines/visual-design/ please have a quick read of this.*** Before any main story mission there is a "pre-mission screen" summarizing the upcoming mission and a button to start mission. Pinterest board https://nz.pinterest.com/marcuslrb/screen-4-pre-mission-screen-apple-watch-size shows examples of how another game have done something similar. Obviously please don't copy it exactly but I hope it gives you some kind of inspiration. I am open to how this screen is laid out, as long as it includes the below: -- Mission type: Bang and Burn -- Location: Paris -- Target: Power Plant -- “Start Mission” button. ----- Watch Screen: Progression ----- Throughout the game there are "progression" type tasks, whether it be hacking or infiltrating etc, where there is a progress meter that fills up as player gets closer to completion. For this final screen design player is "hacking" and attachment number 6 in contest list shows a very basic layout that I'm after. Pinterest Board https://nz.pinterest.com/marcuslrb/screen-5-hacking-progression-apple-watch-size/ also has template and some inspiration hacking images. There are many progression examples in the game so I feel this is a very important design to get right as it will be a solid foundation
What to avoid
Watch screen designs (Screen 4 and 5) need to be within the display size limits of Apple Watch (Smallest version - Height: 38.6mm Width: 33.3mm) Refer to website https://developer.apple.com/watchos/human-interface-guidelines/visual-design/ where Apple have clearly outlined basic design limits for Apple Watch screen. My game is entirely different to "Spy_Watch" but I need to be sure there is no risk of copying their design. Screen 4 has a Spy_Watch screen example only meant for inspiration purposes, please do not copy directly.
