magda_taylor got their new app design by running a design contest:
Design a One of a Kind Web Application UI for Wonky House

Wonky House is a show-how platform helping small business manage remote software projects (project management, outsourcing, asynch collaboration tools, etc)
What's your vision?
Our modular platform allows small business to manage remote software projects through several integrated products. At the moment, we have some very dated (and broken) designs, along with a new logo (Image 1) Our products work together in a “pinboard” environment, with the different functions that come with each application operating as a “pincards” that lay on top of that pinboard. (Image 2 & 3) It’s similar to the Windows or Mac desktop/dashboard orientation, complete with a deck at the bottom for holding pincards that are not in use. (Image 4 & 5) The pinboard is setup as a grid (relative to the screen size); with each pincard able to be opened in whatever size is required (or minimized to 1x1). In Image 2 & 3, the grid size is 5x3; while in Image 4 & 5, the grid is 15x7. Our contest seeks the creation of a clean, modern design for our “starter” application, which offers the following functions: • Newsfeeds. (All of the various user activity in the application) • Tasks. (Quick, one-off tasks) • Discussions. (Chat functionality between users) • Friends & Colleagues. (Other users that you might have relationship with) • Companies. (Places that people work) • Profile. (Your own profile information) • Account. (Your financial details, purchase history, and product selections) Ultimately, a good starting point for your design would be to reimagine the last image we have uploaded (see Image 5), which shows several of the pincards open in different states, along with different form elements. There are aspects of our existing design that we like ... like using icons and placeholder as form labels. But, overall, the design was created by a developer, and we'd like to see something new. We're looking forward to your ideas.
We are very keen to see designs that fit Google’s Material Design specification (https://material.io/). We're also fond of the Material Design Icon set (https://materialdesignicons.com/). And it's likely that the application will be built using Bootstrap elements in React (https://react-bootstrap.github.io/). Since the pincards are limited in available screen space, it might be helpful to imagine each pincard as a self-contained mobile interface. We'd like to see not only layout concepts, but also forms and forms elements. Again, rethinking Image 5 would be a good place to start. How would you redesign the look and feel of the Windows/Mac dashboard?
