Jonathan @ Sparkfish got their new app design by running a design contest:
Decision-Making App Look and Feel Designs

Games & Recreational
My app helps young adults make better decisions around high-risk activities by making them more informed of their odds when engaging in such activities.
I have no website, yet.
I am targeting young adults (ages 16-26, mostly male). I am looking for a creative, original, edgy design that will appeal to this demographic. One color palette that I like is #a9c33f (Green), #4b4f55 (Dark Gray), #fff9eb (Off-White), #015699 (Blue), #eeeeee (Light Gray). I think the green is sporty, the other colors are fairly neutral, and the blue adds a splash of accent color. I'm TOTALLY open to other palettes though. I also like the idea of using unexpected angles and lines. All straight lines can be boring. The only brand inspiration that I've come up with so far is Red Bull. Not the whole “Red Bull gives you wings” campaign -- I mean the risk-taking, high adrenaline events such as cliff diving, sky diving, pub diving, canon shooting and other similar risk-oriented events.
I haven't named the app yet, something about Life Decisions, only a lot more exciting ... have any ideas?
I don't need the whole app designed, just two screens so that I can use to make decisions about what style I should go with. I have mockups of a few screens that I'd like a designer to re-imagine from scratch. The current design doesn't convey the "edginess" that I want for this app. It is too conservative for my audience. The first mockup is the main/home screen. From here, the user would establish a personal profile. Once that is established, the user can navigate to an event (like a running a marathon, jumping off of a house, taking steroids, and other wild stuff) and see information about how doing that event would affect their life. The second mockup is the results screen. From this screen the user would see what would happen if they performed the event. This could be a positive effect or a negative effect, depending on the event they selected.
What to avoid
Don't be dull. I'm looking for a design that captures interest and intrigue.

Jonathan @ Sparkfish collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.

And then… they selected a winner!
This designer did a great job bringing our site update to life. He was also helpful and easy to work with when it came to edits and refinements. Definitely recommend!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
