Vote4us got their new app design by running a design contest:
Create a winning mobile app design
Check out Vote4us's App design contest…
Vote4US is a mobile app that enables the over 132 million voters to compare and discover candidates with similar views through the use of entertaining quizzes, activities/games, and access to an aggregation of unbiased information on each candidate.
www.vote4.us (but use for materials and logo, not design)
Font: Trajan Pro (but additional use of san-serif font too is OK) I already have a logo designed, so the app should take some design queues from that. http://www.vote4.us/ Don't look at any other part of the site except logo (web site re-design will be another project ;-)
Home screen (with buttons for sign-in/out, profile, candidate info&comparison, Political quiz, Polls) (figure 16 on page 4 of plueprint) Compare candidates (figure 57 on page 13 of plueprint) Profile edit (figure 82-86 on page 17 of plueprint) Poll results (figure 75 on page 15 of plueprint) Quiz results (figure 69 on page 14 of plueprint) I have app blueprinted on my site: http://www.vote4.us/ in the design section. The blueprints are for iPhone, but I need to see this for iPad. I think a lot can be done with the extra space. Keep in mind that the iPhone app will need to have a similar graphic feel to the iPad design created here. Also, it is likely that I will be negotiating with the winner to create the rest of the needed screens for both the iPad and the iPhone version of this app.
What to avoid
Make sure the design says party agnostic. (of all parties, not just the prominent two)
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. App design starts at $599.
Full copyright with production-ready files for digital and/or print.

99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
