BIS Team got their new app design by running a design contest:
Create modern screens for a mobile safety app
Check out BIS Team's App design contest…
We allow users to access and complete digital forms, view and validate training certificates, as well as view and manage physical equipment with digital maintenance forms in the safety industry. We do have app screens already designed, but we would prefer to see fresh ideas before we send our current designs so we don't cloud your vision.
Our app has a few main colors so far, they are outlined below: Black: #231F20 Yellow: #FDC20F Grey: #D6DCE3 Light Grey: #EAEAEA We'd like to keep other colors to a minimum but if adding another color helps the design, we aren't opposed to it.
Users will be logged in to their account on their training page. On this page they will have access to their training certificates, courses, and any forms they need to complete or have completed. To get to other screens, they click a top left menu button (standard three horizontal lines) and this opens the navigation menu. In this navigation menu are all of the other pages they can navigate to. The screens we are looking for designs for are: Main screen with three sections: Assigned (This is where courses/forms which are assigned to the user are ready to be started! Headers can include Title/Type/Start Button) In Progress (This section shows all forms/courses which have been started. The same columns as the header above, but the Start button becomes Resume) Completed (This will show all completed forms and courses. The courses will have a certificate icon, and the forms will have a "form" icon for the user to click if they want to see the form they completed. These icons would replace the Start/Resume buttons from above) Folders Screen: This screen is a link the user clicks to show a page with a set of folders on screen. Each folder then contains forms for the user to complete and agree to. There could be 1 folder, or there could be 40. A way to search/sort the folders would be a good idea as well. Ideally we would be able to see the folders in a detailed list form for users with many different folders to have them alphabetically sorted. Sub-folder Screen: If a user clicks on a folder, they will "open" the folder and be shown a list view of all documents within that folder. They will have an option to view the form or download the form (If they click download a copy is put into their Assigned area on their home screen). This is the one we pictured looking similar to audible and other eCommerce type apps. Equipment Screen: We also have a similar screen to folders called equipment. Equipment is similar to folders, it is a list of equipment which the user has access to. Equipment has a status (red/yellow/green) which shows whether it is operational, tagged out, or broken completely. Unlike folders however, when you click on the piece of equipment you aren't shown another sub folder, you are instead shown the equipment information itself. Piece of Equipment (Equipment Information) Screen: Once you click on a piece of equipment you are shown different sections, each section has information in it. The section we are looking for a design for is the forms section. These forms can be attached to a piece of equipment to monitor mileage/hours in service, as well as maintenance forms etc. If possible we would like to see a view of the equipment screen with the "forms" section open, to show a list of forms the user can open and complete. There is also a sub-section of the forms area called "Scheduled Forms". This sub section will allow a user to view scheduled forms with the following data: Title of form, who it is Sent To, Date it Sent, Status
What to avoid
Textures should be avoided as we're trying to keep all programming clean/tidy. Try not to use any stock images unless they are from dreamstime.com as we have a specific subscription for this site. Vectors can be searched on that site as well.
