Primoj got their new app design by running a design contest:
Create a new iPad App for Ramar Foods!

Food & Drink
This app is an iPad-only sales & order-taking tool. It enables the user to place orders for customers, lookup inventory information, customer data, and sales data. This app is designed for use on-the-go, with the majority of orders being placed while standing in the aisle at the customers physical location (usually supermarkets). 1) Order Taking 2) Customer Lookup 3) Inventory Lookup 4) Data visualization
Our users are multi-generational, but primarily older, aged 40+. They are already familiar with iOS, so we want to have the theme be heavily rooted in iOS 7. Large title fonts are also good to help them navigate around the screen. Scrolling on screens (and within panels) is natural, and highly encouraged. In short, think Modern, Flat, and Easy to Use.
Inventory Details Screen - this screen enables the user to search for the item by # or description. Once selected, the item details appear. Includes product photo, UPC, weight, packs per case, etc. Customer Information Screen - this screen enables the user to search customers based on # or name. Once selected, details appear including map, sales information for Year-to-Date, primary address, and option to select other customer locations. New Order Screen - this app enables the user to create an order. First, a customer must be selected. Then the user can add items to the order in a shopping cart setup. Text fields will be editable for quantity and price, and toggle buttons for both should also be included. Order Summary and Confirmation Screen - this page shows a summary of the order. It should condense the order details, enable scrolling for long orders, and have a panel to capture the customers signature, and buttons to Place Order, Save Order, and Delete Order. Reports Screen - this screen will display sales data in a visual way using bar graphs. The data will be primarily to track sales target information. (ex: user has sold 85% of sales target). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Moving from screen to screen - - our current version has a toolbar at the bottom with buttons for each screen. We want to move them to the top to make scrolling better. We are also thinking of adding a "sliding panel" where there are 3 horizontal bars at the top left of the app that indicate more options are available. (like the facebook app). The screens should be somewhat standardized in terms of layout. The app should work primarily in landscape orientation, but should easily transition to portrait orientation. There should also be a shortcut button on all screens enabling the user to return to an open order screen. This enables them to shuffle back and forth between examining inventory details and adding items to the order.
What to avoid
Avoid very small text, do not cramp elements too close together.
