The HeadUp Company
The HeadUp Company is a company with the vision of raising awareness for and to assist in funding solutions that help identify, solve and prevent CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy). CTE is a disease that has recently risen as a common and tragic outcome from playing contact sports like American Football and Boxing.
As its first product the Company wants to design and sell a durable, stylish trucker-style hat. The rationale behind a hat is that it will be highly visible, will be worn by people in the area the disease affects, and hopefully will be able to generate significant funds to provide towards clinical research and community support. The HeadUp company will dedicate a significant portion of proceeds to research institutions and community organizations dedicated to the research, prevention, and reversing of CTE.
I want to design a high quality, durable trucker hat similar to the styles that Patagonia and other outdoor companies make. The logo will be sewn on the front panel as a patch or embroidered. Here is an example of the styles Patagonia uses: https://www.ebags.com/hproduct/pata…gKgHPD_BwE
I'm between two logo ideas, which I may use both in the launch of the product. A more image-driven logo and/or a more text-based logo. I'm not sure which I'll go with and if I like both I may launch the product with both options.
I plan to launch not too many colorways of the hat, as I don't want to invest too much in inventory costs. Likely only 3 color + logo options to start.
Overall, I envision it being pretty simple. Not too many colors and not too loud. The concept is supposed to sell itself. I imagine the hat color being a neutral tone like dark gray, light gray, black, or navy. The logo itself should complement the neutral hat base color and only have 1 color that would be vibrant. I imagine launching with a more picture-based logo and also a more straight text logo. For the text logo: how I say/speak the company name in my head is either "HeadUp Co." "The HeadUp Co." or "The HeadUp Company". I'm leaning more towards "The HeadUp Co." for what would be put on the logo.
Text Logo Idea:
I'm down for a simple logo where the company name takes up most of the patch. I've included a picture below, where the logo is also accented by the words "SOLVE CTE" and the dual helmet logo. The dual helmet logo would not have any text in it. I'm down for the patch to be any shape, so please be creative!
The dueling helmets would kinda copy this: http://www.beardownshop.com/COLLEGE…ng_T-Shirt
I don't want the helmets to be crashing though (please!)
Picture logo idea:
Dueling helmets, where the words "Head" and "Up" would be on each helmet. "The" would be small above the helmets and "Company" would be below. I attached my really poor sketch of the idea to this creative brief.
Could you play around with different fonts and positionings of text?
Also could you have one logo where you have the text "SOLVE CTE" in the bottom-right hand corner?
The goal of my company is to generate as much profit to help fund research for solving CTE. In that vein, I don't want the hat to be insanely loud. I want it to be clean, but still noticeable. The ultimate goal is that when people see a friend or colleague wearing the hat, they'll ask "What's the HeadUp Company", and then my customers will pitch the goal of my Company.
