We are reimagining the higher education landscape. EdPlus at ASU is built on a culture of collaboration, ambition, innovative thinking and the desire to create change in higher education. This culture drives every member of our team and permeates every endeavor we pursue. We are designing a booklet to help communicate what we do. The target audience is a broad range of stakeholders, including technology providers, professors and other educational leaders, and other interested parties.
What's your vision?
We need a 6.5" x 6.5" cover designed for a 24 page booklet about EdPlus. We are attaching a file of some initial mockups of the booklet layout, the complete copy for the brochure. The university brand guide can be found here: https://brandguide.asu.edu. You must use Berthold Akzidenz-Grotesk Bold typeface and adhere to our color palette. The tag line for the booklet is "Eliminating barriers + creating opportunities". Beyond that, we are looking for a creative design that represents the bold, innovative nature of the work we do.
Booklet text: EdPlus at ASU brochure “At ASU, we’re committed to academic inclusion and student success to anyone, anywhere, regardless of a student’s family circumstances. EdPlus at ASU is driven by this ideology and has a rich vision for the future of higher education.” Michael Crow, President of Arizona State University The world is facing an education crisis. It is estimated that we will need 38 to 40 million more educated workers globally by 2020. Sixty-five percent of all U.S. jobs are projected, by 2020, to require skills only attainable through post-secondary education. Yet the country has stalled in postsecondary degree completion. Only 34 percent of Americans -- and less than seven percent of the world -- have a bachelor’s degree. There are many complexities inhibiting those seeking a college degree -- age, location, cost, disability or inadequate preparation. To improve postsecondary attainment, our nation’s colleges and universities must drive change in order to increase access, social mobility and economic opportunity. Arizona State University is focused on addressing the global challenges in higher education by creating greater access to the research-intensive institution. Through the creation of EdPlus at ASU, we are able to expand the number and types of students we admit and graduate – ultimately, opening doors to postsecondary success. For nearly 15 years, ASU has addressed the need for more college graduates – growing from 50,000 to more than 90,000 students – tripling the number of students it graduates annually and increasing the academic quality and rigor of its programs. This success is the result of our efforts to reimagine higher education – putting knowledge at the core of everything we do. Global Freshman Academy (GFA) Addressing the barriers of affordability, access and college preparedness, GFA offers freshman-level courses for anyone, anywhere looking to further their education. Built with advanced technology on the open edX platform, these courses can be taken repeatedly until the student has mastered the content. Students gain valuable experiences in online learning with no upfront personal or financial risk. Once students receive a passing grade, students can choose to purchase for university credit. The open courses are personalized for each student’s needs and gives them the opportunity to demonstrate college readiness and ability to succeed while also developing problem solving and critical thinking -- necessary skills in today’s global workforce. “The Global Freshman Academy experience is spectacular. I like this style of learning and will continue to take every course available. I’m getting a freshman year experience that’s so much better and less expensive than what my peers are getting. I really am an ASU freshman.” -Sam Matey, Maine “I loved that I could take my classes anywhere and those classes can transfer to ASU courses. I took my classes when my kids were at school or after I put them to bed, allowing me to pursue my education without sacrificing family time”. -Morgan Richards, North Carolina ASU Online In the last six years, ASU’s online student population has grown from 400 to more than 22,000. With more than 100 degree programs delivered by the same award-winning faculty who teach on campus, students receive the exact same content as on-ground students, but with technology enhanced delivery. Our online programs are effective and flexible, offering students -- no matter their circumstances -- access to the vast academic, research and careers resources that ASU offers. Online students also receive personalized success coaching, guiding them from enrollment to graduation. "Attending ASU has allowed me the flexibility to manage my work and home life as well as my education, and has given me the opportunity to expand my career, I am able to do that with the online program. I have also loved being a Sun Devil because of the sense of community." -Karen Osborn, Texas PLuS Alliance Global challenges in higher education require an inclusive and comprehensive group of thought leaders.
