EcoEuan got their new logo & hosted website by running a design contest:
The eco dog needs an awesome logo and website

Animal & Pet
We sell eco-friendly dog products (including food, toys, collars and leads, beds and bowls) to people, primarily in Australia and New Zealand. Our customers are single or couples with 0-2 children, are aged 25-50 and are changing the world by changing themselves. We're all passionate about the earth and protagonists of change.
Other color requirements
No specific colours in mind
I initially considered a simple origami style dog and also liked a silhouette style of a dog in pose/action. If using the latter the silhouette must be a kelpie breed of dog. The font I envisage is something simple but effective. Ideally, the logo would be something that I could use as a stamp and the design would still be legible. Not that it can't be coloured, it just would be ideal if the design worked in colour and monochrome.
As with the logo, I've considered 2 different styles, one being simple and quite plain, the other being more inspired by revolution and uprising. I have the simple representing the eco-friendly aspect as being something almost "going back to basics". e.g. Brown paper, natural fibres or other organic materials. For the revolution inspired idea, I see that the products we sell are a way for people to make changes through purchasing products that are good for the earth. Whilst governments talk about action, our customers are people that take direct action themselves. When I did a viva la revolution image search in google I noticed some shots with a barren wall and some writing stencilled across it and I liked that subtle shot and "the writing is on the wall" in that style reminiscent of so many uprisings. In terms of colours, I've not got any preference. I do intend to use photo's of dogs throughout the site, some taken with instagram style filters and others black and white. I am undecided on whether to use both types or stick with one style.
It all began with a design brief.
