(1.) Home-
Barry's House is a home-like environment for men who have the sincere desire to remain in a supportive recovering community as they practice and develop their sober lifestyle through the 12 steps. We have a 2 phase module to help phase our guests into sober independence. What phase a guest is admitted at is determined by Barry's House during our interview process.
We have 24 hour staff at Barry's House available to help guide, support and push our guests in the right direction. Every day we hold groups and different activities. Although the 12 steps is our primary focus, learning new life skills and how to have fun in recovery is an important factor too. Depending on season and weather, some of our house experiences include hiking, fitness awareness training, skiing, kayaking ext. Depending on phase will also depend what groups or activities are mandatory and what is not.
Phase 1
Our goal in Phase 1 is to teach recovery skills. This structure requires our guests to be available at Barry's House all day, every day, for approximately 30 days. During Phase 1, our guests will first go through orientation. Orientation will introduce the guests to our house schedule, rules, chores and outside resources. Guests will work on Steps 1-7 in our Big Book groups held daily, Monday-Friday. Steps 1-7 teach how fear and resentment cause chaos. By learning inventory writing skills in our inventory workshops guests gain the tools necessary to help manage their lives in a more healthy way. Because a lot of work is required in Phase 1, it is important to remove distractions. Guests may not have cell phones, tablets, computers or a vehicle. Depending on the case, staff may require to play a role with money management. Phase 1 guests may not hold a job and will be escorted by staff or Phase 2 guests when leaving the property for food, outside AA meetings, gym, and house trips. Although guests are responsible for their own meals staff will help create meal plans and assist with cooking depending on guest needs.
phase 2
Our goal in Phase 2 is to put education to practice. This phase is approximately 5-7 months. With help and guidance from staff, guests will develop a plan to find employment or enroll as a full time student. Employment and school may not conflict with mandatory nightly groups on Monday-Friday (Big Book, Inventory workshops, outside AA). During Phase 2, our guests will have reached Steps 8-12. Starting life sober is frustrating. Resentment is the number one offender for relapse. When guests are given more freedom we hold inventory workshops to help address fear and resentment towards people, places and things. Amends are critical. Amends are found to be the most life changing step in the right direction. Staff assist in amends lists and healthy communication for executing a healthy amends. This process helps addicts face any wreckage that was caused with family, friends, and employers and will help educate guests to face issues in a healthy manner as opposed to hiding from them.

(2.) About us-
Barry's House is owned and operated by Baystate Recovery Services (BRS). BRS has been providing nationwide services since 2008. We have a long history and strong belief in family focused recovery. To us, the family recovery is just as important as our guests recovery. We find it more effective if everyone is involved and fighting this problem together on a united front.
All of our services are written by recovered addicts and alcoholics. With our personal and professional experience we provide a unique insight and offer guidance based on our own personal road to recovery.
( Note to designer: put our parent company logo somewhere on this page)
(3.) For The Family-
With each guest we offer individualized family support with our parent company at BRS. Our involvement with the family during this process consists of in-office meetings, phone calls, Skype sessions, and emails. This is a perfect opportunity to be proactive and learn how to build, change, and improve on family communication skills and develop healthy boundaries.
Our program was built by BRS and its foundation of the family focused approach. We understand that with every guest that is admitted to Barry's House is a lost and confused family member. One of addictions biggest symptoms is a strained family relationship. That's why we find it important for family to be prepared and get educated about addiction so that the family and our guests can heal together as a whole.
(4.) Location-
We are located in the heart of the down town area of Beverly Ma. Surrounded by local shops, restaurants, commuter rail and beaches. With miles of coastline, public parks and open spaces, Beverly is commonly called the “Garden City.” Beverly is a great place to live stable in a picturesque setting.
(Note to designer: all of my attached photos besides " the gate photo" and " the house with green shutters" are pictures of the town. I would like them all o the page)
