How pennyspicerocks started their logo design journey
Down to Earth
To develop young leaders who demonstrate tolerance and compassion for human diversity, act as stewards of the natural world and contribute positively to the local and global community.
The Down to Earth program is primarily committed to the following four areas: Leadership, Community, Stewardship and Diversity. The 5 week program is based on an experiential education model, simplified as "learning by doing". It is through this model that the youth's English Language skills are also improved. It is our belief that second language acquisition and its active use enables the speaker to authentically experience different cultures. In turn, direct contact with different cultures encourages critical thinking, tolerance and appreciation for human diversity. Consequently, it is through interactive experience with the instructors, fellow group members and the community that the participant’s language skills will improve.

International youth between the ages of 14 and 18 along with their guardians.
I am looking for a logo design to be used on my website and in print material (including business cards and letterheads). As the logo will be geared towards youth it should be somewhat playful/cartoony. I have chosen a free website design template for which I've attached the Photoshop .psd file. This should give you some visual guidance when creating the logo.
If you need some inspiration then take a look at these:
The logo should fit comfortably into the space provided in the .psd template (currently there is either a parrot or a green squiggle). The text should be "Down to Earth" and should be in a font that is both freely redistributable (no commercial fonts) and appealing to my target audience.
The files we will require are:
Print file format - .ai (CMYK)
Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
Please do not use any stock images or clip art in the logo
