Mike White got their new logo design by running a design contest:
"Words Of Hope" Header for website
Check out Mike White's Logo design contest…
We need a cool, expressive header for our new web site. ##UPDATE We need a header for a web site. The purpose of the website is to give a way a free book. The target audience is people who are caregivers for friends and family experiencing cancer. Or adult children of aging parents. So we called it Words Of Hope book. Inspirational messages. Help tips on time management, striving to be the best, encouragement, getting back on track. At first the contest was getting entries that looked religious, and I didn't want any of that. Also, we DO NOT want it to look like a children's Biblical inspiration book. I want the logo to be fun, trendy, colorful and say optimism and confidence. As an example to get the designers moving in another direction, I suggested a caterpillar thinking of a butterfly -- an image that I like, but am not set on.

What's your vision?
We need a cool, expressive header for our new web site. It is called Words of Hope Book. It's all about the book we distribute. Inspirational messages. Help tips on time management, striving to be the best, encouragement, getting back on track. We want a header and logo that appeals to people hoping to find information that will bring them some relief from care giving or inspiring them to care better for themselves. The audience is people dealing with the pain of caring for someone (target age 30-65). One idea for the logo. The logo could consist of: 1) an image to represent words of hope, finding relief. 2) An image to represent that there is a book 3) An eye - popping way to write the title of the book: "Words of Hope" I definitely think we should make book part of the logo. You might want to try creative ways of placing it. It's definitely part of the logo. - Our main product is the Words of Hope Book - Our audience is caregivers - adult children of elderly, healthcare and family members who support those with cancer. this is a web site that gives away the Words of Hope book. The content of the book is all about tips and pointers for those who need to care for someone who is aging or experiencing a disabling illness. The winner must provide a banner header for the site. The available file formats are (jpg, png, gif, swf). The width should be 970. The height is not limited and will self adjust. - a new logo that will be used on websites and all printed materials. Background: some people coming to the site will have heard a talk. Here's the description of the talk. Twenty-One Ways to Take Care of Yourself with Purpose and Passion While Caring for Others The safety instructions on an airplane tell all passengers to “Take care of yourself, first...before helping a small child or elderly person.” Participants will: * learn how to ask for help when driving off a cliff seems like a better alternative * find ways to bring humor and saving graces into the your daily life * savor the nuggets of joy when providing care for a loved one * develop ways to recognize when personal boundaries are compromised and at risk regarding relationships, commitments, and time management; and * become exposed to relaxation techniques, and enjoy the emotional rescue that each one of us desires. Pull over. Help is on the way!
- * Final deliverables should include original vector file and JPG files for immediate use; - and an Avatar appropriate size for use on Twitter and other social media sites; - a banner header for the site - available file formats are (jpg, png, gif, swf). - Width 970. The height is not limited* bring out apprecitation of life, humor, care of yourself * Originally thought it should be a single color, but that's not required. * Simple, clean design All original design No Corporate Feel
- any religious or bible images. - any tone of sorrow, powerlessness, victim mentality - too childish. - logos with the cartoon figures that do not have a mature feel - we DO NOT want it to look like a children's Biblical inspiration book.
