We are very much open to any and all ideas! This is our first design contest, so please feel free to let us know how we can assist you in your creative process.
Here're a few notes to guide you along:
Either incorporating the company name into the logo (see Facebook-pinballnyc-logo.gif and DanceNYC_logo.jpg) or putting a pictorial alongside the company name would work.We would like to downplay the ear. Please do not make it a prominent element of the design. In all likelihood, the winning design will not feature an ear at all.
First and foremost, we're looking to convey our slogan - "We help you enjoy the sounds of life".
Elements we'd like to incorporate (listed in the order of importance, although none are REQUIRED):
* Outline of NYC skyline or well-known NYC landmark (e.g. Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, NOT the Statue of Liberty). Ideally, this would be fairly light, without overpowering the entire logo.
* Sound/music reference (e.g. equalizer, sound waves) Ideally, this would be well integrated with the city element, conveying the sounds of the city and going out on the town (concerts, theater, lounges, etc.).
* Smile, preferably in profile, facing left. We have looked at a great deal of "smile" logos, and have not seen a front-view smile we liked. They seem to fall into 3 categories - too subtle, "smiley face" - too playful, and lips-based (wrong color, too complex, multiple connotations). The profile smile seems to address all those issues.
* The koru in one of the letters of the company name
Graphical elements we like: gradients, irregular shapes, negative space.
A concept we had in mind:
NYC landmark/skyline outline (see salon-nyc-white.png) with equalizer bars forming a "shadow" at a 135d angle (see turntable.jpg), incorporating a smile in profile (see logo_smile.gif and macos.jpg).
Audiology logo 2.jpg is a great starting point. We really like the concept, but would like to change the elements. The original logo is from a "Woodlands" audiology practice, hence the tree and the green color scheme. We would like to see the tree become NYC, the ear become a smile (negative space), and the color scheme change to cyan. The audio aspect (sound waves) of the original logo would have to be reintegrated in a way that makes sense in the absence of an ear.
