david.granburydoor got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Wanted: New Logo for Door and Window company.
Check out david.granburydoor's Logo design contest…
There are two sides of our company, Residential and Commercial. On the residential side, we work with homeowners to repair or replace windows and doors. We also sell and install screens and shower doors. For commercial work, we build and install the large windows and doors that you see in stores or office buildings. We also do specialized door locks that are used commercially. Our target audience ranges from elderly home owners to commercial developers and builders. We work in a small town where relationships are key to success and want to convey honesty and reliability. Also, we are a "home town" business where it is important to support locally owned businesses The business started in 2002, and has a great reputation in our community. My wife and I recently purchased it and the owner is staying on in sales. https://granburydoorandwindow.net/
Other color requirements
1 - One direction we envision is a blue logo with gray/black/silver. 2 - We've also been interested in the artisan-type (vintage) logo, that look like they were off of a wooden sign, with browns and blacks. However, we've seen versions of these that were taken to a different color, or had a version that was less "weathered" and taken to blue. 3 - We like the "retro-cool" style that was from the American 1940/50s. Those are often pictures which have several colors. But if there were a primary color, it might be blue. However, if you've got a specific reason for using other than blue, give it a try !
Logo will be used on invoices, letterhead, website, trucks, billboards, clothing. We'd like something flexible, also not to "thin" for easy readability. It would be nice to have one that is flexible orientation-wise, or have variations. It should feel fresh, crisp, solid, professional, not-too-trendy. Some of the vintage looks might fit that, but we also like simple. Due to the trucks/paper being white, def want a look that doesn't have a background texture around it - assume a white background. We need to focus the logo on "Door and Window", and not as heavily on "Granbury" (the town name). Our current logo has "Granbury" way too large. The feedback that we received during the poll that we did at the end of the first round showed that we were often confused with our competition: "Granbury Glass and Mirror", so we need to ensure we're not over-emphasizing "Granbury". Additionally, we may expand to other counties, which means we'll replace "Granbury" with other locations. There is a logo on the website. Please do NOT compliment that one – my wife hates it. We were established in 2002, I see that some logos have that mentioned. The slogan is "only a stone's throw away". We don't need that in the main logo, but it would be nice if there was a way to add it easily as a tag line. I've included pics of the current logo, which just a font loosely used. Please DONT USE that look. The "Thou Shalt Nots": 1 - Do not use yellow as the primary color. 2 - Do not depict hammers 3 -Do not depict wrenches 4 - Do not make "Granbury" much bigger than "Door and Window". A little bigger, maybe, but not a lot bigger. Need balance and to have a difference between us and our competitor Granbury Glass and Mirror. 5 - We do not want to buy fonts or other art. UNLESS you let us know ahead of time, we know the costs, and we agree. We've included some examples that we thought were cool, but we are very open to other looks and ideas. The length of our name will preclude some options, I imagine. We will likely work long-term with the winning logo designer for other "looks" and further products. This is our first company and our first time on 99designs - we're newbies... So be patient and explain what you're thinking.
