OHDSI - Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics We develop and evaluate analytical methods that use observational healthcare data, such as administrative claims and electronic health records, to study the effects of medical interventions and predict health outcomes for patients. We aim to generate evidence to inform medical decision-making that is honest, credible, consistent, transparent, and personalized to the individual patient and provider's specific needs. OHDSI is a research collaboration across academic institutions, health systems, and industry, and aims to develop an open-source, publicly available tool for medical product safety surveillance and comparative effectiveness research.

OHDSI ...we pronounce like 'Odyssey', and I'd be interested in seeing a logo that can possibly incorporate, either directly or in abstract form, the general theme's of Homer's heroic story around the long journey home, persevering over adversity. The poem also had a story about Odysseus as the only man who could the string a bow and shoot an arrow through twelve axe shafts, which demonstrates both strength and precision. The two definitions of 'odyssey' in Websters are both apt for our effort: 1) a long journey full of adventures, 2: a series of experiences that give knowledge or understanding to someone.
