How UniversalSlate started their logo design journey
My friend Katherine and I are starting up a new blog designed to be (eventually) one of the pre-eminent sources of vegetarian news, book reviews, gossip, etc.
I have run several sites before and Katherine has written for many other blogs previously so we decided to put our heads together and do a project together!
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
TheVegetativeState.org is going to primarily have traffic from StumbleUpon Stumblers so the logo has to be fun, eye catching, and easy to interpret.
The audience is going to likely be more female than male so we would like a logo that would appeal to a 20 - 30 something year old woman. The logo has to have a sense of authority (because we are a news source she can trust) while also being fun and charming.
Our site will be up and running on the week of June 7th so you'll be able to see your work up by that week! :)
We are looking for a logo and a wordmark to go on the top banner of our site at http://www.thevegetativestate.org. Currently, there is a really crappy banner there. Your work will be going in there.
Don't worry about matching the greys and blues already in use on the site. We will be changing those colors to match your logo. In fact, we will be customizing the look of the entire site to work with your logo.
Because this is a logo for a web-based project only, we don't need to worry about different color ways or how the logo would look on an embroidered jacket.
*The actual banner size is 460px x 150px so your logo will need to fit in that space.* The banner up there now is deceiving in size: the actual banner is only 460px wide and the background color of the header matches the background color of the banner to 'extend' the header the full width of the content box.
