First of all... if you participate in this contest you WILL receive some sort of feedback on a daily basis... either through ratings or posted remarks.
Teken Media is an upstart company that will primarily promote and distribute a long term life cycle outdoor sign product. Our company name "Teken" is a Dutch word meaning "sign" or "symbol." (Not that is necessarily maters for the contest... but it is pronounced "taken.")
The signs sold by our company will last forever in even the harshest outdoor environments. They're non-porous, water proof, and UV stable. They won't chip, crack, peel or degrade in response to their environment. Even if graffiti artists or birds have their way with our signs there is no permanent damage and clean up is quick and easy. These signs are also environmentally friendly.
With that said, our product line could possibly expand in the future to include other forms of promotional media. For example, product labels, specialty items, multimedia production services, etc. We don't necessarily want to be boxed in by a logo with a simple sign icon on it.
The product we sell is "high end" in the signage world.... we want our logo to portray a high end image.
We will primarily be targeting municipalities, county and state government, school boards, universities, golf courses, housing and commercial building developers, hotels, resorts, etc. Our target markets is businesses or government agencies that purchase signs that need to last a LONG time in potentially harsh environments.
Try to stick with no more than two or three colors. No gradients. (One limitation to our sign product is we can't do gradients. We plan on making sign samples with our logo on them.) As of now we're not leaning toward any particular colors. As we said earlier, this is a high end, high tech product... the logo should support that image. Silly, bubbly icons probably aren't what we're looking for.
