small Wedding, elopement and honeymoon photography. Target niche market is 30 somethings, adventure seekers. The aesthetic should be clean, whimsical, and mysterious, sophisticated. Here is the "about" page text to give you an idea of the feel...
Tatting is handmade, durable lace. Tatting, also a verb, is the dedicated act of looping and knotting a thread of cotton or linen to make an intricate and complex pattern of lace by hand. The technique is thought to have originated from the act of sailors knotting handcrafted love motifs into their fishing nets for their wives and girlfriends back home. Imagine it… love stories forged into tools with blood, sweat and salt water by working men on the open seas. Tatting is not an elegant or perfect lace. It is a throwback to the days when beauty was married to form and function, and wrought with meaning. A common piece of tatting had the soul of the tatter woven inextricably into it forever. To tat, is to tell a story.
My photographic style like the technique of tatting is a process of creating an image wrought with meaning… it is not the quest for a perfect image but the story that lies buried within.
Moss is a small green or yellow plant that grows in shadow places on damp earth, rocks, walls, tree trunks, especially along the banks of rivers or streams. Moss is thought to bring about a sense of calm and stillness in the eye of the beholder. I spent much of my childhood and adult life wandering shoeless along rocky paths both literal and figurative looking for the repose offered in a natural moss garden. You have to get hot and dirty to really appreciate the existential qualities of moss.
Tatting and Moss is a way of life… We are the unshod ~ People who eat salad with our bare hands. We dip feet in the city plaza fountain, and still roller-skate like its 1975. We eat all the ice in our water glass and then devour the lemon ~ slice, rind and all. We are messy and undaunted: we are pure love.
