P.rickles got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Sum up our research with an intelligent and eye catching logo

Challenging Risk (Achieving Resilience by Integrating Societal and Technical Knowledge) is a collaborative research project involving researchers from the University of Edinburgh and University College London. The project is concerned with the reduction of multiple structural risks in the urban environment, with a focus on the linked risks of earthquake and fire. The project aims to bring together two linked strands of research; • Technical: using experimental engineering methodologies to gain a better understanding of the response of existing (concrete) structures to earthquakes and fire • Social: using participatory methods to involve communities in the development and implementation of effective risk reduction campaigns The two elements of this project will run simultaneously with the community interactions feeding into the experimental (technical) programme. The ultimate goal is to increase the uptake of risk reduction measures relating to fire and earthquakes, resulting in reduced life and economic losses. Given the nature of this research project, the audience will include both engineers with a technical background interested in the structural aspects of earthquake and fire as well as members of the community who do not have a technical background but may be interested in the risks associated with fire and earthquakes at an individual level.
Logo types to explore
The key element of this logo must be the bringing together of the technical aspects of the project with the community participatory aspect. The logo should be inclusive, not alienating either group. Key concepts: Fire, earthquake, community, behavior change, structures, engineering, participation, society. Stereotypical imagery associated with fires (or earthquakes) should be avoided.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $299.
