Gather - Analyze - Act
We conduct on-line and mobile surveys. The company name is TrendCues. It concatenates two words: 'trends' (meaning information that's revealed in large datasets) and 'cues' (meaning signals). Our on-line and mobile survey tools help researchers find information that may signal an emerging new trend. Our target customers are corporate marketing personnel, academic personnel doing researchers, pollsters, and human resource personnel. We are a new service that's just coming to the market. Our competitors are Survey Monkey, Survey Gizmo, Question Pro, and Qualtrics. We want to be viewed as disruptor who offers a superior service that's easier to use. See comments below in Notes for this design brief to see our thoughts on how the logo should convey our personality, service, and market positioning. These surveys can be used for general research projects (ie. educational or political studies, social trends, etc.), commercial studies (ie. market trends, product needs, customer satisfaction assessments) ... or to gather employee feedback. We can also use mobile surveys on tablets to gather data in retail, medical, and industrial settings.
Logo types to explore
Steve Jobs 'design brief' for the Apple logo in 1977 was: "Don't make it too cute". His logo designer, Ron Janoff, added a few other criteria which I agree with: 1) "Keep it simple", 2) It needs to "be interpreted from very small ... to ... very large", and 3) it's a chance to "show personality". I agree with these points. We offer a helpful service to educators and business people ... so don't make it cute, keep it simple, and be interpreted when small or large. We aspire to help businesses change their world. I like when the name is incorporated into the image. But, this is not essential! Feel free to put the name outside of the emblem if you have a good idea. I also like if something clever can be "revealed in the white space"... such as the peacock in the CNBC logo shown in the examples provided. The bite out of the apple on Apple's logo is meant to give a context of size and to ensure viewer knows it's an apple and not a cherry. I've attached examples of a few logo's that I like and that follow these principles. Good luck.
