Will2047 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Need a standout logo for an interior design related firm

Our firm develops and markets a project management software program for interior design firms. Supplying software to an industry that prioritizes good design requires a logo that stands out and appeals to a typical senior designer ( female, age 35 - 55 ). Up until now, our company name has been "The Smart Designer" and the project management software system we sell is called "DesignSmart" (yes, one word). Our first logo was a play on the company name: an illuminated light bulb that suggests Smart Idea! Then a couple of years ago we got tired of that logo and went to a more colorful and abstract logo design (see attachment). We have been advised that it is too confusing to have a company name that is different from our product name, so we will change our company name to DesignSmart. For this reason, we need a new logo and we’ll be starting from scratch. We don’t have a set font or color scheme. The one thing I’d say about fonts is that most design firms like to use Century Gothic. That is the font we use in our project management system, but it might not work for a logo. What makes our company special? We are unique in that we customize our software for each client. Sometimes a client needs the look of their invoice customized, or they need to restrict which employees can see certain information within the program. The variety of customizations is much broader than that, but hopefully, that gives you some idea of what we mean by customizations. Because we customize our software, we tend to attract larger design firms that need the software to work exactly as they require it to work, and they have the funds to pay for the customizations. I don’t know how to reflect this in the logo or even if it needs to be reflected in the logo. Attached is an image of our current logo and those of our main competitors. I like the one by Studio Designer. Simple. Clean. Precise. I don’t want a copy of it, and incorporating an image of a typical piece of furniture into our new logo would not be appropriate. I’m open to any fresh new ideas and will respond to new submissions daily. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to the possibility of working together soon.
I’m interested in abstract, pictorial and wordmark logos.
