Dino is awesome to work with and has a crazy good work ethic. I went back to him with several different changes and he helped make vision become a reality. He helped me through every step of this process as this was my first time using 99 designs. I can't say enough good things about Dino and look forward to working together on future projects.
How John S. Sowards started their logo design journey
The Sports Source, Inc.
We are a sporting goods company opening a 4,100 square foot retail storefront in Minnesota. Our focus will be on team sales to local associations and schools as well as target marketing to Adult Softball Associations which play only 1 mile away every night of the week. We will also focus on individual players needs through store sales, web sales, and selling from a mobile sales unit at tournaments and events (trailer or tent). The culture we want to embrace is giving back to the community through affordable and available products. We have 5 associations within 8 miles of our store and over 30 schools. The store will feature a full length batting and sports cage (for hockey shots as well, gotta cater to the local cult sport!) so we will rent the cage out to local trainers for working with students on an hourly basis. Our main focus from the beginning will be to provide uniforms and equipment to local baseball, softball, and hockey associations. Printing logos of the local groups on multiple apparel items (spirit wear) is also a plan. Our slogan will be "Your Team Sports Specialists." We also will have a charitable organization built in to the company (Level Playing Field) which will focus on donating used equipment to area youths and associations in need.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our target audience is 276,000 people living in 5 communities. Median income is $62,356 and 36% have kids participating in or personally participate in some form of athletic program. We want to target the associations that cater to these people as well as targeting them individually. Having so many target groups the color of the logo is not as important as the substance. Our main focus groups will be Lakeville North (Red, Black)/ Lakeville South (Cardinal, Vegas Gold)/Apple Valley (Brown, Black, Vegas Gold)/Eastview (Royal Blue, Silver, Black)/Farmington (Orange, Black)/Rosemount (Green, Navy, White). Our marquis sign will be between a Red Sign (Carbone's Pizza) and an Orange Sign (Runner's Gate), Block script, with the logo and the words Sports Source being lit.
Creativity in including reference to our three main focus sports is desired, preferably by graphic or picture and not verbally. We aim to attract Baseball, Softball (fast and slow pitch), and Hockey mainly. With the orange and red signs surrounding our location we plan to use a different color for the marquis sign (not a lot of Blue currently in the mall) but the logo can use any color that you feel best accents the sports we seek to attract. New age or abstract is not really what we want; animated (showing swing plane or simulated motion) or just melding the bat, ball, hockey stick, glove, or any combination that depicts the company focus items is what we desire. The logo needs to be transferrable to multiple medias as we intend to use it on business cards, show tents, sales trailer, vehicles, and the marquis sign.
