Playto Research is startup company that creates 'serious' game solutions; i.e. games and simulations for education and training.
We are focused on creating effective virtual training experiences. And for us, design and research are entwined in the process of developing quality experiences. We regard research as a critical component when developing successful game-based training solutions.
The company name itself a play on words. “Playto” pronounced “Play-toe” sounds the same as the name of the great philosopher Plato. The spelling of the name, to include the word "play", is indicative of the company’s role in game and simulation development. The subsequent word "research" emphasizes the importance we place on research - drawn from areas such as psychology user testing, and education - in developing effective training solutions.
In a nutshell, we are about both serious games, and serious research.
(You can find more about serious games at http://www.seriousgamessource.com/).
