ScreamLouder needs a kick a** logo!

ScreamLouder is a personal-safety mobile phone (Android/iPhone) app. Its purpose is to alert a chosen set of contacts in the event of an emergency by sending a text or email with your current location. They will be given a link to an interactive map which tracks your movement while the alert is active so that you can be found. Thus the name, ScreamLouder, is to extend the range of your cries for help automatically through text and email. Although most users will be girls/women 16-30, I do not want the logo to be strictly feminine. Guys should like it too, but still appeal to women.

IMPORTANT: The icon, or at least the main essence of the icon, should be able to scale down to 18x18 pixels. This means that the general idea should be simple. We are willing to lose a lot of detail when scaled down, but the logo should be recognizable without those details. The icon will be used as the app launch icon on the phone as well. Your submissions do not need to look like iPhone app buttons in a square container with rounded corners or anything. We will port our final log into this configuration ourselves. Just know that it should eventually look good when used like this. LIKES: - Obviously high quality work! - 1-3 Color icon that can easily exist in black & white without losing its look. - Simple and clean icons! It has to be to be reduced to small sizes. - Shading done with solid colors and hard edges (as opposed to gradients. see examples below) - Medium,  dark-gray, or black text (both words same shade most likely) - Modern/clean fonts DISLIKES: - Gradients - Busy logos with too much going on. - Imagery such as phones, signal-lines (3 curves nested within each other), shields, beacons. - Re-purposed clipart. As you can tell from the list above, gradients are NOT as preferred as solid colors! If you can "shade" using solid color highlights, this is our favorite style. We are looking for clean, high quality, solid-looking logos here. Please be creative. This does not have to be a stuffy-looking logo just because it is for personal-safety. ALL the other apps that do similar look stuffy and rigid. Ours should be a bit more fun! A simple megaphone where the large part is a mouth and appears to be screaming. - A yelling speech-bubble. Since the functionality of this app is texting and emailing contacts in an emergency, maybe a speech bubble that is screaming would be appropriate. - Other thoughts I have will appear here later Ok, that's enough. Hopefully you can see what we like. Nice, mostly 2-d logos. Yes, something screaming is okay too since it is in our name, but just remember that a large part of our market is women, so it shouldn't give a 'creepy' vibe. Make it more fun than actual screaming.
