rebates.com- life is complext, rebates shouldn't be
rebates.com is a new web site devoted to making rebates easier for consumers and marketers. To date we have processed over 2 million rebates for consumers ranging from national retailers and brands to energy star and ecommerce vendors. What makes us special is we WANT the consumer to get the rebate. Some rebate processors make it difficult because the longer the processor keeps the rebate money, the more "float" they get. We process rebates and send them to consumers via co branded prepaid cards. Processsing is all done online because we integrate with point of sale systems. Instead of mailing in your receipt, you simply log on to our site, enter a code, your email and mailing address and youre done. The site will internally link to partner stores, offer a rebate search capability and the home page will feature a video explaining the process. We are very consumer friendly and our retail partners love us because we increase customer satisfaction by reducing the hassle and our marketing system results in more rebate money being spent at the retailer (instead of a check that is never seen again). There is NO One doing this and its the future of rebate marketing- a $15 billion a year promotional tool.
We re targeting two principal audiences. Consumers who want rebates on cars, appliances or just about anything. But we also want the site to appeal to retailers (both online and offline). Our philosophy is "everybody wins" because the consumer has a better experience. This reduces complaints to retailers and brands. Marketers love the service because we drive spend back to them with our co branded card. We also enjoy patent protection on our process and can aggregate two rebates onto one card. So if you buy baby diapers with a $5 rebate and toothpaste with a $1 rebate, we cn mail you a prepaid card for $6. We also offer value added deals as an option to the rebate. Lets say you get a $75 rebate on a laptop, at te time of processing we may offer you a $150 warranty or $100 leather bag in lieu of the cash rebate.
The logo needs to be very web 2.0 and will likely include the name in the treatment. It might have elements of cash/money/prepaid card and or technology. We want to promote our friendly approach and may want to include our new tag line. "Life is complex, rebates shouldn't be".
I am attaching a pdf of a DRAFT version of the site. Once this logo contest is complete, the next contest will be to incorporate the logo into a new website design based on the attached file.
The idea of creating the site in the style of US currency has some appeal so one treatment of the logo might have elements of a $10 or $100 bill. But youre the designer so have fun with the logo. It would be great if the logo worked in black and white as well but don't feel constrained, 99.% of the time the logo will be viewed online.
One last item to note: 99% of the rebates we send consumers are via a prepaid credit card (Amex or Mastercard/visa), perhaps including a card in the design might make some sense. Thanks for your help and Happy New Year
