parsec.io helps clinicians and researchers solve complex disease problems by combining genomic profiles, clinical trials, drug therapies, and other data in one easy-to-use interface. For clinicians, parsec.io is a tool for interpreting complex genomic diagnostic tests to help them personalize cures for their individual patients. The software lowers the cost of next-generation personalized healthcare and increase clinician confidence in completeness and accuracy of information related to the patient’s tumor genomic profile. For translational researchers (laboratory scientists making drug discoveries), parsec.io provides thousands of literature citations, drug uses, and clinical trials relative to a tumor’s genomic mutation or profile, resulting in a clear and up-to-date picture of current discoveries. Initial application is for cancer; future applications for a variety of disease areas.
The name "parsec.io" came about because distances between objects in space are measured in parsecs. This idea came about in thinking about the cancer moonshot program, long distances, ways to shorten time between discoveries to accelerate finding disease cures, and so on. "Parsec" has popular use in sci-fi books and movies (cooler sounding alternative to “light-year”). Many of our target customers (doctors and scientists, mostly males, age 35 to 50) are sci-fi fans.
tl;dr: Software product marketed to doctors and scientists interested in personalizing medicine for their patient. Design should be clean and modern, and should help us build trust with doctors and scientists.
