How justinvl started their logo design journey
jvlphoto.com | JVL Photography
I'm a Canadian portrait photographer with a good sense of humour. I'm fun and easy going, years of customer service have taught me more about getting along with people than selling myself.
I've run my photoblog for a few years now at jvlphoto.com and I'm expanding more into the professional side of photography. While I dabble in all sorts of imaging, my preference is portraiture (I'd love weddings but I don't have enough for my portfolio yet).
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Families, Business Portraits, Fundraising events, and Social Media head-shots seem to be the most work I'm getting - I would like to pull strongly with this audience as my name is slightly established. However I find my last name is tricky for some people to spell (Van Leeuwen) and I've often gone by initials JVL.
I would eventually like to tap into a wedding crowd so a certain level of sophistication and elegance (though not flowery) would be great.
I want a logo - preferably icon based (easier to recognize and "spot") that I can use as a banner to my website, and placed on business cards. I would like the logo to incorporate my initials 'JVL' and feel free to play with their symmetry.
Preferably, the logo would have the full web domain jvlphoto.com in it, and easily identifiable, so that if it was seen alone the audience would still be able to find it. I have no colour restrictions or requirements, except I hope that it could look good as a silhouette (monotone) as it would with colour (if you choose to use colour).
As an artist I completely respect and support your artistic direction (that doesn't mean I'll always like it though!). I'm here to tap into you as a resource afterall - feel free to visit my website and make your own opinions on what you'd like to see my logo displayed as.
