historian x got their new logo design by running a design contest:
A People's History

My organization's purpose is education; target audience is the general public.
This logo is for branding a series of educational materials, both print and web. The series title is "A People's History of Hamilton County." The "people's history" concept originates with scholars such as Howard Zinn and EP Thompson, and refers to history told from the perspective of ordinary people rather than the famous, the wealthy, or the powerful. In this case, the People in question are the working class, local population of a mountainous, forested wilderness area in the northeastern United States, so some sort of iconography involving trees, mountains, forests, roots, etc. would work well. But of course this is all about people, so it should have some human element in it too, and something evocative of history would help. I really don't have any solid idea of what this logo should look like, so I look forward to some innovative ideas.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $299.
