How David55 started their logo design journey
I'm male, have a background in finance and startups, and derive personal satisfaction from creating something new. In this regard I have been involved in a pre-internet startup, a dot.bomb and ran my own venture capital advisory business. This latest project is my next attempt at elusive success and self-fulfillment!
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The target audience comprises:
- buyers of bulky goods on online auctions (such as eBay). The goods would be single furniture items, antiques, motorbikes, cars, jetskis etc.
- people wanting to move house and needing a household removal company
- people needing to move commercial freight/haulage (part-loads): less common
Thus the target market is likely to be both male and female, and given the furniture focus, probably over 25 - with an average of 35-40? Older people than 50 are probably unlikely given the need to be internet-savvy.
I need a snappy logo design, perhaps with an additional icon. It needs to be fairly compact (to work on a website) but being able to be used in other media. It needs to be easy to read - not too "curvy" a font! The competitors are uship.com, shiply.com and anyvan.com. Of these, I like the Shiply website itself the best. But I don't particularly like any of the logos of the 3 competitors.
Another similar site is mybuilder.com (also not beautiful!).
