ABOUT US: Building New Hope’s mission is to collaborate with people and communities in Central America by supporting their efforts to build sustainable livelihoods and linking them with educational and economic opportunities. Formally incorporated as a U.S. 501(c)3 organization in 1996, Building New Hope brings nearly thirty years of experience. Today, our programs focus primarily on education and coffee farming in Nicaragua. In the town of Granada, we operate two supplemental schools for at-risk youth and provide high school scholarships. In Chinandega, we partner with a worker-owned organic coffee cooperative to create long term sustainability for their farms and ensure fair prices for their coffee in the global marketplace. In Pittsburgh, we engage with local schools and universities, faith groups, farmers, non-profits, community groups, and businesses to promote healthy ecosystems and to spread awareness about how fair trade relationships can help to reduce poverty and inequalities. TARGET AUDIENCES: We have different audiences, so we would like to keep our long term donors but also to bring new young donors that also get involved with our organization. OUR IDEAS: - Building New Hope logo has to represent our mission. (www.BuildingNewHope.org) - We don’t want the logo to suggests that we are a religious organization (which we are not). - We would like a logo that attracts more younger generations but at the same time to give the sense of belonging to long time donors and volunteers. - Basically we want to give the message to people about our main projects. Education, Fair Trade Coffee and Sustainability. - We would like a logo that can be thought as a connection between coffee farmers to the world. - We would like a logo that also make a connection with education. - We would like people from Pittsburgh (and from outside Nicaragua) to feel connection with the organization. - In Pittsburgh (and the USA) we engage with local schools and universities, faith groups, farmers, non-profits, community groups, and businesses to promote healthy ecosystems and to spread awareness about how fair trade relationships can help to reduce poverty and inequalities and the importance of sustainability. - We would like to give a message of sustainability and community engagement. From local to global and vice versa. - We would like to attract people to buy our coffee. - BNH is more than coffee. - BNH is better than fair trade, we do direct trade. - BNH invest in education. - At the same time we want to preserve some connection with the current logo and mostly our coffee logo (see New Hope coffee logo in the images provided for reference). GOAL: - We would like a font that is easy to read, modern but also that represents us. - We want a logo that feels interesting, authentic, meaningful, and that capture the education and coffee (fair trade) looking as well as sustainability. - Since our projects are different somehow we would like the logo to represent all of them. - We would like a logo that can be used in marketing materials and that people recognize. - We would like a logo that stands out. - Not many colors since it is expensive to print labels with too many colors. - We will turn 25 year in 2021. - We need a logo that represents our mission and demonstrates our main programs. STYLE: - Authentic - Clean - Modern - A bit classic - Illustrative - We need a horizontal and vertical option so we can make it fit in different spaces (see Mastercard attached screenshot for reference.) - I am including our New Hope Coffee logo for reference. - We want an authentic logo and appealing WHAT WE DON'T WANT: - We don't want generic logos - We don't want similarity with other non-profit logos - We don’t want the logo to suggests that we are a religious organization (which we are not). - We don't want a logo that represents one culture or religion - We don't want a logo that has no meaning or connection with our organization - We don't want the same logo as the one we have right now. - We don't want a logo that is too complicated or that has too many colors. - We don't want a logo that is not mindful - We don't want the institutional logo you are creating to look categorically different in design to our New Hope coffee logo (see our logo in the images I provided for reference). But at the same time we don't want them to look the same. - We don't want that the logo images we are adding for reference to be the the main idea to develop a logo but to be as an example of what it communicates.
