How Parkman Woodworks started their logo design journey

Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a small, but rapidly growing reclaimed wood furniture design and manufacturing company based in a workshop on the East side of Los Angeles. We use locally sourced, 75+Years-Old wood and steel for our modern-meets-rustic/industrial designs. Our clients are generally young (late20s, 30s & 40s) professionals buying their first quality pieces of furniture (tables, benches, desks). We want our logo to represent the simple, geometric, utilitarian look and feel of our furniture, while also capturing its timeless, natural, warmer qualities. We want something abstract and unique that doesn't necessarily speak directly to woodworking and carpentry (no saws, axes, etc.). We've included a picture of our current place-holder logo that our friend made, which we do not want. We want to avoid anything overtly "hipstery" or pandering. We've also included two woodworking logos that we do appreciate. Thank you so much for your efforts, they're truly appreciated.
