How started their logo design journey

Ok, as usual with my contests, I'm going to vigorously work with you to come up with the perfect logo with tons of Feedback. I'm about to share several concrete concepts we want to actualize. We're happy with you attempting whichever one you want or making up your own concept. The logo must be undoutdetly WEB 2.0. "Web 2.0" can actualize itself as many things--there are many styles of "Web 2.0" logos. So by "Web 2.0" I mean we're looking for a current 2008 logo--which again, can mean many things--but the point is simply that if you don't have the eye for current design style and you submit a print logo or something or something for 1999, it's going to be extremely obvious to me and you're not going to win.

Ok, so before I tell you our concepts, allow me to point out and explain the logos of other sites and why they are the quality level we are looking for:…ies/602461
NOTES: So that's 2 contests I did to get the logo and homepage for The reason this is high quality and current is because of several things: it's all vector based; it has bubbly/cloudy layers (i.e. the layers of light blue outside the lemon); we made a relationship between the title of the site and a known item (i.e. a Lemon), and used that as the icon; then we slightly modified the lemon to represent "submitting" with the arrows aiming into the lemon. Otherwise, the text is somewhat simple, but of course with a nice subtle gradient.
NOTES: SO we're 99% sure we want an icon of sorts as part of the logo. Styled text will not be good enough. We need something that has some sort of graphic as part of the logo. The graphic/icon can be next to the logo, around the logo, or part of letters in the logo. It doesn't even need to be something really big. is an example of a siate that takes a letter or part of a letter and makes a relationship with the concept of the icon and the shape of the letter to form the icon as a whole. Observe how the flying airplane is a perfect part of the letter "Y." is another example--although I can't figure out what that "power" button means for their company. Propeller obviously does it as well.…closed.jpg
These logos nicely fit the icon around the logo.

Ok, so let's discuss our 2 ideas (use the current logo at for reference for each point):

1) to create a universal person icon like the bathroom ladies and gentleman icons. has done this, and as well . This is actually a little less Web 2.0, but more of a timeless logo that will forever put at the top of all Fitness/Health/Welness/Workout sites. However, we could get a little more Web 2.0 with it, kind of like . But since we're in the same market as them, we can't do something too similar.

2) The second idea might be a little closer to what we want, but we'll need to see it in a simple header layout for the site, so we know it will fit in a site. The idea is a man and a woman standing next to each other to make the "M" in "My" + Y as either a letter or a maybe an exercise tool (e.g. a bench press). The next part is to put the text "BodySite" above the man and woman as if they are holding it up. I'm thinking something kind of like the logo for the style of "BodySite." But it should make sense that the man and woman are holding it up. It should look heavy.

3) The 3rd idea is to make the "my" kind of small and focus on the word "body." If we keep "body" lower case, you will notice that the "b" and the "d" could maybe be people. Maybe one is a man and the other is a women somehow.

4) The 4th idea is quite cool. If you look at the "i" and the "t" it looks like it could be a man running on a treadmill. The line through the top of hte "t" would be the man's arms kind of holding on to the rails of the treadmill, and the bottom of the t where it curves into the L would have to make the bottom of the tread mill. Maybe the whole word site could be made into a guy running on a tread mills.

5) Another idea is to make the "bod" in "body" prepresent the bar bell in a bench press...Also, with the bench press idea, I've been seeing the "y" as a bench-press--maybe that's a possibility.

So overall, I like #4 the best. I think the word "body" would be in somewhat of a simple style right next to the word "site" and the word "site" would look totally awesome as a guy running on a treadmill, but wouldn't be too different than the word "body." The word "my" wouldn't need to be very prominent and could be very small. In this idea, it's all about the phrase "Body Site." MY FINAL IDEA FOR #4 IS TO SOMEHOW MAKE THE WORD "Body" look like a guy out of shape, and use the letter "y" to make an arrow somehow" and then show the guy working out on the treadmill in the word "Site." Maybe you could use the word "My" with "Body" to make the out of shape guy...In general, though, the idea is to show a 2 step process of somebody getting in shape from left to right by using the text in the logo to create the right graphics. This is kind of like how man evolved from a monkey to a human:…%20Man.jpg

That is a crazy idea, but could be possible. I'd love to see someone attempt that!

LAST THING: Our preferable colors are Blue and any secondary colors. But don't feel limited by that--you can do any color you feel strongly about, as well as any logo concept you feel strongly about. THESE ARE JUST SUGGESTIONS + IDEAS!!!!!!!!! DO WHATEVER YOU WANT.

What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?

Here are some competitors in our market:

Possibly a little bit of the header of the site around the logo to show that it will work. You only need to do this if you do idea #2 and create a really large logo that might have a hard time fitting into the header of a site. But feel free to do this with any concept you do if you want. Seeing the logo in the header will definitely sell it better.

- a logo that uses custom universal icons for fitness
- a logo that stands out by using graphical icons to represent the letters in the site's name.

Don't want

- just stylized text
- a logo mainly for print
- logos that are obviously just not current and high quality and Web 2.0
