W1 (that's it, just two characters!)
W1 is an award-winning boutique agency that creates and produces cool, modern, original events. It operates in the areas of music, entertainment and visual arts. Everything W1 does is 100% original. It approaches each event with the objective of blowing minds through innovation, the unexpected, and very high-level production. The kind of events people talk about years later. Think art gallery openings in NYC, big name DJ’s playing to intimate crowds in unusual places, A-list movie premiere galas, original multi-media installations. It is defined by its originality, and is seeking an identity that reflects that.
The company is modern, leading edge, and makes bold statements.
W1‘s personality is best understood by looking at its client base: Apple, Audi, Hugo Boss, Burton, Virgin, BMW, Nintendo, Grey Goose Vodka, DKNY....that's right, the logo must stand-up in the Apple boardroom.
Influencers, not followers.
A fairly broad range: mid-20’s to late 30’s, depending on the project.
International: New York to London, Sydney to Johannesburg, Berlin to Bejing.
Modern, sophisticated, affluent, discerning....on the leading edge of culture.
The chosen logo must be described by the following 5 words: SIMPLE, CLEAN, BOLD, MODERN (but timeless), ORIGINAL.
It’s only two characters, a “W” and a “1”. There should be roughly equal weight given to each character.
The logo can’t be too abstract to make it unrecognizable. It will have to stand alone at times without support text, so it must be easily identifiable as “W1” (vs people wondering what it says).
Generally, we lean toward bolder, sans-serif fonts, nothing too fragile or delicate, and definitely nothing ornate. It is best to avoid fonts that are over-used or considered trendy, please strive for a timeless look. With only two characters (W1), a degree of customization in their use is expected to ensure originality.
We are open minded on colors. Nothing too electric, but not dull either. Perhaps a sophisticated anchor colour, with a touch of something bold to make a statement.
We're looking for a logo with a singular “clever” element to it, something that makes people take a second look, and say “what an amazing logo.” Maybe it’s the use of contrast to give it dimension, maybe its a unique customization of a character, maybe it’s the way the two characters W1 connect.
Got your creative juices flowing? It will take a very create mind to find a simple solution. We challenge you to create an original, award-winning logo.....
