---LAST DAY - PLEASE SUBMIT ANY IDEAS!---
We're interested in minimalist/abstract designs. Given our name "Peacock", there's quite few motifs from the animal that could be used!
We especially like the "eye" in the feather (but are open to any other ideas you might have)!
Given this though, try to make it bold - we're called peacock because our app will be based on people "peacocking" - grabbing attention. Our logo should do the same!
***Just to make it clear - the logo should also be usable as our icon on a phone's home screen (so if you can mock it up like that as well would help us visualise it).***
---UPDATE DAY 1---
Now we've seen a few designs, I think we have a clearer idea of where we're going with the logo. The designs we've been most impressed by feature:
-Reference to a peacock (the feather usually, as opposed to the whole animal).
-Some reference to either the messaging function, location function or optimally both!
What we haven't seen as much of is some sort fun element - a lot of the designs are very stark and symmetrical etc, but adding a more human touch (e.g. asymmetry, off centre etc.) would be nice. This app is meant to help people grab a beer together/play frisbee in a park/generally have a good time so the logo should be quite human!
---UPDATE DAY 2---
We've made some new observations on our tastes:
-Please don't force your design to include the letter P! We prefer something that can stand alone.
-We're trying to avoid things that look like the NBC logo! Because we want our own brand and to not get sued...
-On that note, we're really looking for a stand alone "thing" that will be able to describe peacock. Probably not as far as a cartoon peacock, think something more abstract. We feel this way because it's clear the icon really needs to have a fun, approachable vibe, like we hope the app will be! It would also be nice if it worked "inverted" e.g. so that it could fit on a coloured background.
-Font wise, we're looking for something simple/sans serif, e.g. myriad pro, helvetica etc.
-Just to confirm again, something fun, with character, but still maintaining abstract and minimalist design principles.
---FINAL DAY UPDATE---
Thanks again for the great response. We've had a lot of designs, but we don't really feel like we've found "the one" yet. We have a few we definitely like, but it's still quite open!
Just some last tips:
-At this point, designs really need to have some way of demonstrating location/messaging aspects. I think we prefer messaging as the primary focus (e.g. a speech bubble).
-If you look at any peacock head you've made, and think of a snake/serpent, it's not what we're looking for. Again designs that make use of the face the speech bubble kind of looks like a head avoid that.
-We're not just looking for heads, the feather motif is still really cool for us. In the end, if you design something beautiful that looks like something people want to click when they want to have fun, we'll take it.
Thanks a lot!
