The logo is for a company which runs and sells advertising on a chain of community websites (forums, wiki, gallery etc) for the British military.
The company wishes to portray a professional and modern image, allowing our websites to be sold to potential advertisers under one banner. The websites themselves are very popular with a great target audience for advertisers, but have humorous names and a quite rebellious image that doesn't suit pitches to media buyers. The new brand, Military Media, is to be the respectable face of these sites.
The 'military' part of the name is less important than 'media' - we want to represent a range of online media publications, similar to a magazine portfolio, and the fact that these are military is important, but secondary. We therefore do not want designs that are too military - weapons, stencil font etc. It may be that there is no military element to the design at all.
Since the whole business is involved in the internet, a modern, hi-tec feel is essential.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The most important target audience are medium to large scale online media buyers. The people themselves are likely to be 20-30 year old graduates, London based, considering themselves businessmen/women rather than media.
A secondary audience are individual company owners / reps. This is much more difficult to tie down, but the emphasis is definitely on business rather than design / art.
We need a logo suitable for use in a website header, therefore wide rather than tall, and for use as a letter head and in powerpoint presentations. This can be a single graphic or presented in 3 versions if necessary.
The logo would need to include at least a version that works on a white or light background, as the website will certainly be clean and dark-on-light. Given a likely maximum header height of 100px, the website version of the logo needs to work well at that size, so simple/few colours is good.
The words 'Military Media' must be included, either integrated in the logo or placed alongside.
There is no existing brand that MM must tie into so. It will stand alone and apart from our websites as these have very different looks and brands. I have therefore not included images. Please feel free to be creative!
