I am starting a blog celebrating children's literature and picture books. I am an expert in literacy education and a mom to three children under three-years-old--but I still do cool stuff. The blog will include book reviews, book lists, teaching/parenting tips, and personal commentary. My target audience is moms and dads of young children who are hip, art and design savvy, educated, and want to know what is trending in children's literature and picture books. A secondary audience would be teachers and librarians.
There should be chickadee and something related to books /reading/literature in the design. I would love to see some humor and quirkiness! It should be mature-ish and modern--no chalkboard fonts, please, and try to make chiche images (e.g. a bookworm or an apple) really special and offbeat. I would love to see black and white with some color that pops. Absolutely check out my Instagram @chickadee.lit. Other Instas to check are @averyandaugustine @ohcreativeday and @happily.ever.elephants. Some children's books I enjoy are are 'I Want A Monster' by Elise Gravel, 'Young Charlotte, Filmmaker' by Frank Viva, 'Bob: The Artist' by Marion Deuchars, 'Little Red' by Bethan Woollvin, and 'Last Stop on Market Street' with illustarations by Christian Robinson. I also could enjoy a vintage vibe. I like the look of the 'This Is...' series by Miroslav Sasek and 'Pierre' and the other Nutshell Series titles by Maurice Sendak.
