richardfye got their new logo design by running a design contest:
logo for Why Boards Matter
Check out richardfye's Logo design contest…
This is intended to be a blog that may turn into a book with a brand around which a suite of consulting services can be built. The services will be in the area of corporate governance for board of directors, director recruitment, and board effectiveness. Example description: "We have worked with, studied, assessed and advised boards of directors of some of the most prestigious and respected corporations in the world. Our approach is predicated on generating continuous, customized and transformative corporate governance deliverables that go beyond quantitative structural metrics advocated by proxy advisory firms, rating agencies and, in some cases, regulators themselves. Specifically, we focus on relationships, decision-making, competencies and other attributes that are largely visible only from inside boardroom doors, by directors themselves, and informed by global thought leadership. We especially eschew ‘one-size-fits-all’ or ‘volume’ approaches to board effectiveness. While our standard methodology has been used by boards and directors within major industry sectors, we create sustained value by forging close relationships with clients seeking deep and customized offerings to suit highly specialized needs. The quality of these relationships is reflected by the significance, complexity and discretion of the work entrusted to us." - boardexpert.com
Logo types to explore
Target audience is people who serve on corporate boards. Websites that have design I like include: Seth Godin, Kevin Kelly (kk.org), Nicholas Feltron, Daytum.com, visual.ly, and consulting firm websites such as McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Booz & Co., Oliver Wyman. The logo will be used for Website, PowerPoint presentations, business cards, stationery, reports. It should convey experience, seriousness and trust, but I don't want a staid corporate look either. I want to convey innovation and results orientation. It can be one or multiple colors, but needs to be printable in black & white without destroying the integrity of the design. It should also re-size easily (e.g., fit comfortably into the square profile picture on Twitter, Facebook, etc. as well as a large projector screen).
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $299.

And then… they selected a winner!
JBN was quick to respond, flexible with requests and brought us a great idea for design that match our brief perfectly. Would love to work with him again if we have new design needs.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
