UPDATE: Members of the Food Security Council have asked me to update this design brief. They see that most designers have chosen to represent food only through an allegorical image of grain. They note that Fish and Cattle are very important in South Sudan.
The Republic of South Sudan Food Security Council is a new government agency in South Sudan, the world's newest country.
The Food Security Council's mission is to help end hunger and malnourishment by bringing under control the resources and processes required to ensure that South Sudan's people have stable access to affordable and nutritious food.
The Food Security Council is a policy-making body and also an implementing agency. It builds and runs emergency food storage facilities all over South Sudan. It distributes food to needy people in cases of conflict, drought or inaccessibility. It helps distribute seeds and fertilizers to farmers. You can think of it as a South Sudanese version of the World Food Programme.
We want a logo that somehow conveys the theme "Stable Access to Food", which is our understanding of Food Security.
We want something sober and institutional looking that conveys solidity and trustworthiness. For reference, I've attached the Coat of Arms of the Republic of South Sudan, of which the RSSFSC is a part.
