How Hstern started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We offer Italian language classes for kids and adults in Southern California. We organize Italian cultural/family events and summer camps. We offer grants to schools to support the teaching of Italian. We are a non profit organization. Our mission it to promote Italian language and culture in Southern California.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
We would really like to see designs that base work off above logos. We would like to seek a sample of a logo with skyline and playfulness of the Eatalian logo.
Fondazione Italia, a non-profit organization that promotes Italian language and culture in Southern California, is looking to modernize and liven up their logo. We are revamping our website (see attached home page from new website) and need a look for our logo that will represent our organization in a new, fresh, fun and dynamic way. Our current logo (also attached) is heavy, serious and dated. The challenge for the designer is the name itself which is long and hard to pronounce. We would like the "Italia" to be what pops and to de-emphasize the "Fondazione" but not in a way that will make it impossible to read when logo is on business cards or letterhead. Instead of just making it smaller, maybe it can be de-emphasized by possibly using thinner line work or a lighter color tone. The design for our new logo should, 1) appeal to all age demographics although main clients visiting our site will be parents, adults and seniors, 2) represent in some way Italian language AND culture and 3) use the colors of the Italian flag but should also be readable in black and white and 4) marry well into our new website design. We like the idea of using a pencil somehow in the logo since we are a school and a suggestion that was liked by some of our board members was to have the pencil drawing an iconic Italian landmark (to bring in the cultural component) but we are not married to this idea and are open to whatever creative way a designer can bring all these elements together.
