tommy99 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
A logo wanted for Financial website
Check out tommy99's Logo design contest…
Accounting & Financial
This logo will be for a new website that is currently avaliable (but not yet completed) at http://www.divestopedia.com. The audience for the website will be private company owners, investors and brokers who are considering either selling their company or divesting themselves of some of the equity in their company. The objective of the website is to provide a dictionary of terms, a collection of articles and tutorials one should consider when selling in order to maximize the value of the transaction.
Logo types to explore
There are two ideas we like: 1. The first is a stylized series of stairs (see: http://www.stackoverflow.com logo for the inspiration) that could be a standalone icon on the left of the name or integrated into the name - perhaps as a stylized "E"..? The idea behind the stairs is that the reader is "stepping up to higher values" by reading the site content. 2. The second is wrapped around an asterisk ("*") which, in financial terms, is the mathematical symbol for mulitply - or in terms of a sale it is the "multiplier" factor. Assets are valued by their present value multiplied by the multipler. The higher the multipler in a sale, the more money involved. Other considerations: 1. Do not take the existing logo or color palette on the http:/www.divestopedia.com website as any indication of our choice(s). THESE ARE PLACEHOLDERS ONLY. 2. We would like you to provide color palette and font suggestions given our business-orientated website. 3. The height and width of the logo is constrained somewhat by the website design. This can be slightly modified, but please take these constraints in mind in your design. 4. The design on the logo must be able to be translated somehow into a favicon.ico. 5. The logo design could be influenced by 2 other graphics (that still need to be designed) on the website. If you look at the existing page at http://www.divestopedia.com/definition/731/fundless-sponsor you will see a red and blue folder icon. THESE ARE PLACEHOLDERS and need to be replaced with a final design - which will represent "the definition of a term" and "what the term really means in plain english". This contest does not include these 2 icons. But be aware that we will tend to lean towards a logo design that could (but is not required) be incorporated into a theme with these other 2 icons. 6. We will request deliverables for: a) CMYK printing in both solid and gradient form in .eps format and b) Web/Desktop/Digital graphics with both solid and gradient forms as well in .psd and .png formats, and c) a favicon library with 16x16, 32x32, 64x64,128x128 and 256x256 .png sizes along with a favicon.ico
